Name & Logo
The name Safronya has its roots in the word Saffron. Saffron
is
a royal spice and the most precious and expensive in the world.
In Royal India, where the color produced by soaking Saffron filaments
in water was considered the very perfection of beauty,
Saffron was used in the preparation of the most valuable cosmetics.
Imperial Romans used the spice to scent their baths and public halls,
while Classic Greeks appreciated its coloring
and aphrodisiac properties.
In ancient Egypt, Cleopatra and other pharaohs made use of Saffron
as a seductive and aromatic essence, and in Persia women used it
on their faces and bodies for its coloring effect.
Saffron’s high price has always been determined by the amount
of hard labor needed to produce it – around 200,000 crocus
flowers are needed to obtain just one pound of Saffron.
This has probably made its application in cosmetics more difficult.
However, with the rising popularity of natural and organic products,
Saffron is being rediscovered for its highly beneficial cosmetic
properties.
Thanks to the presence of natural anti-oxidant agents carotenoids
and curcuminoids, when used in cosmetic products Saffron has a deeply
soothing effect on the skin, protecting it from free radicals and
leaving it glowing with natural radiance.
Saffron is also a prime Ayurvedic spice, balancing for all doshas
or constitutions and considered pure Sattva, one of the three forces
of nature (guna) expressing spirituality and equilibrium.
Among others, Saffron helps the assimilation of foods into deep
tissues and facilitates digestion. In Ayurveda it is the prime purifying
herb and is used as a rejuvenative for the entire body.
In this view, Safronya comes to represent pure beauty as seen
by Ayurveda, balancing force deriving its power from nature. Safronya’s
logo itself takes its inspiration from the Indian
symbol of the chakra.
In Sanskrit, the word chakra means ‘wheel,’ and it indicates
the vortex of the seven forces in the physical body whose purpose
is to keep energy flowing throughout.
Safronya is therefore also a source of energy, that positive
energy that comes from living a more balanced and healthier lifestyle
based on Ayurveda.
