Mother’s Day
Sunday, May 11, 2008

More than 46 countries around the globe have a special day when they pay tribute to mothers. The traditional mother’s day here was born out of the love of Anna Jarvis who in 1907, persuaded her mother’s church to honor her mother’s death and to heal the scars of the Civil War. As a result of this love, President Woodrow Wilson,in 1914, made the official proclamation that a day would be set aside to celebrate mothers nationally.

In India, a traditional nine- day festival, Spring Navarathri just ended on April 14 honoring, Mother Durga, the goddess of valor, compassion and creator of all things good and destroyer of ego and other suffering along the way.

Make this day a special day of love and giving as you recognize all that your mother represents. All of our specials include a unique mud and clay mask treatment for the feet, representing the solidity and foundation of the earth element, hence the term Mother Nature or Mother Earth is born. A traditional red carnation garland is offered as a lei for an extra special add on.

Pratichi Mathur
Pratichi Mathur is the Founder and Spiritual Director of Vedika Global, Inc.

Pratichi Mathur created Vedika Global Inc to restore Ayurveda to its pristine glory. In the olden days, Ayurveda was considered more than merely natural medicine for the body, but a spiritual path of self -discovery and a profound approach to total transformation of consciousness underlying body, mind and soul; especially when Ayurveda is studied and lived mindfully in day to day life .

Pratichi’s inspiration to connect modern day seekers with ancient sage consciousness, thoughts, scriptures, practices and way of life called Sanatana Dharma led to the formation of not for profit Vedika Global Inc with its three glittering goals of consciousness illumination (Gurukula), community building (Sangha) and service to humanity (Seva) with the tools contained in the Vedic science of healthy body and masterful living.

Soulful Singing
- Sacred Kirtan with Kali Das -
Wednesday, June 4, 2008 8:00pm-9:30pm

Fees: by donation

Chanting has been used throughout history to plunge into the deepest mystery of the universe - the question of who we are beyond the surface level of existence. Many souls have aspired for God through the use of mantra or chant. The calling and yearning for God is the heart of Bhakti yoga. Sri Ramakrishna said that one can realize the Mother through intense restlessness, the restlessness that a drowning man feels for a breath of air.

Kalidas
Kalidas is a yogi who has been practicing Bhakti and Karma Yoga for ten years in ashrams in the Southwest and India.

He was born in India where he lived in a small village for the first five years of his life. After coming to the United States and graduating from Vanderbilt University with a B.A., he felt a longing for a more simple Dharmic life. He revisited India, moved to the Southwest and began studying Eastern mysticism in spiritual communities, mainly Hindu and Buddhist. The next ten years helped him reconnect with the basic principles of Sanatan Dharma and recreate a sense of balance that he had lost. Based on his own life experiences, Kalidas feels that if we learn to curb our attachment to modern technology and return to the simple laws of Mother nature, we will be able to live more fulfilling lives.
